It’s almost 6 months post legalization in Canada and there have been a lot of growing pains along the way, especially when it comes to the products that are currently still illegal. Although Health Canada released guidelines for the sale of edibles and topicals the future of edibles is still fairly unclear.
People are excited about edibles, and rightfully so! Edibles are a convenient way to consume cannabis without having to smoke or vape, plus when they’re made correctly they can taste great! However those in the industry and the public are heavily scrutinizing Health Canada’s strict rules regarding packaging and maximum dosages.
Edibles are sure to be a hot topic this year, that’s why we’re having a “Future of Edibles” panel at the Expo on Saturday March 9th at 1:30pm, moderated by Deepak Anand. Anand is Canada’s top cannabis consultant. Many people expect the sale of edibles to surpass smokables in the coming years, this seminar will give insight to that theory as well as covering a range of other issues.
Not only will you be able to learn about the future of buying edibles but you can also check out our seminar; “Cannabis & Culinary. A How-To Guide for Precise THC/CBD Dosing and Tasty Recipes”. This seminar is being led by Cody Lindsay, a Canadian Veteran, Chef and Cannabis Advocate. Cody and his wife Kaleena created thewellnesssoldier.com to help Canadian Veterans with medical cannabis, healthy eating, fitness, and meditation. The Wellness Soldier website helps Canadian Veterans with healthy living information, cannabis cooking classes, videos & recipes, "Cooking with Cannabis" cookbook, and live cooking demonstrations at Canada's largest cannabis expo's. Cody is the expert voice when it comes to cannabis cooking in Canada. If you’ve ever been curious about cooking with Cannabis you should definitely check out this seminar.
Two of the most important things when it comes to making your own edibles are dosing and taste, which is exactly what Chef Cody is going to be talking about in his seminar! Nobody wants to put in a lot of work (and cannabis) into an edible that tastes bad, or worse- is improperly dosed. Improperly dosed edibles are not only inconvenient, they can be dangerous as well. Dosing is more than just putting the right amount to cannabis in a recipe, other factors like how it will be disbursed throughout the food are at play. There’s so much to learn about cannabis and cooking, because of the popularity of this topic the seminar will run at 12pm on Saturday and again at 12:45pm on Sunday. Whether you want to know more about the sale of edibles, how to cook with cannabis or you’re simply interested in great conversation and information “The Future of Edibles” and “Cannabis & Culinary. A How-To Guide for Precise THC/CBD Dosing and Tasty Recipes” are a great resource. Seats do fill up so be sure to get there on time!
As per the laws in Canada there will be no sales of edibles at the Expo however, many of our venders and speakers are very knowledgeable in the space and would be happy to provide information to you. The cannabis industry is a very friendly space, regardless if you’ve been making artisanal pot brownies for the past twenty years or you’re brand new to the scene and have a million questions you’ll find no shortage of people wanting to have a chat and offer their advice.
